Top 5 Lipsticks Of 2012

Originally I was going to create a post complete with all of my favorite products from 2012, however that would be a monstrosity of a post. So instead maybe twice a week I'd post 5 of my favorite products from each category...

From the name of this post you can probably already guess that today I'm posting my top 5 lipsticks of 2012! This consists brands such as; Rimmel, Elizabeth Arden, Pro's, L'Oreal and Topshop. Continue to read to hear my thoughts of each of the lipsticks. So lets go...

1) Rimmel London- Lasting finish by Kate Moss lipstick in Rossetto (101)

I adore this colour, it's my go to lipstick. I wear this lipstick everyday as it's a matte, nude, natural shade which is easy to wear and can easily transition from day to night with ease. This is an affordable drugstore lipstick which I believe to be £5.49/$8.79/ € 6.74.

2) Elizabeth Arden- Eight Hour Cream Lip Protectant Stick Sheer Tint SPF 15 in Melon

Again this colour is very wearable and easy to wear from day to day, this sheer, slightly pigmented, glossy lipstick which I brought and started to wear in the very early summer of 2012. I always have this product in my bag as it doubles as a lip balm so is easy to apply when on the go. This product will set you back £12.18/$19.50 €14.95.

3) Pro's- 6 Hour Non Stop Colour in Red

I haven't the faintest idea of where or how I acquired this product but for me its the best "red" lipstick I have used in a while. Admittedly I haven't tried that many classic red lipsticks during 2012 but the ones I did couldn't match up to the pigment and the durability of tis product. Unfortunately I haven't the faintest idea of what this product would set you back.

4) L'oreal Paris- Color Riche, Intense Brunettes in Pink Passion (371)

This vibrant, hot, bright colour is one that I don't use to often but when I do pluck up the courage to wear this product I don't feel the need to reapply for a good 4/5 hours as the pigment is fantastic. When wearing this product I also feel there is no need to use a lip liner or a gloss partly because of the amazing pigment but also because the colour is so glossy and gives a healthy, youthful shine to the lips without looking too overdone. I think I paid £6.19/$9.91/ €7.60.

5) Topshop- Beguiled

Toward the end of 2012 I felt like the Wine/Plum coloured lips where an essential for a night out or mellowed down for a daytime wear. Unlike my bright L'Oreal lipstick I do not need to be feeling adventurous to reach for this lipstick as I feel that although it's a dark, bold, statement lip colour if used in the right way can look flawless and natural with a slight edge, showing your darker side. Additionally the longevity is fantastic which is helped by the magnificent pigment of the product.  The price is extremely reasonable at £8.00/$12.81/ €9.82.

So there you have it my "Top 5 lipsticks of 2012", Hope you all had a fantastic New Year and we both wish you all the best for 2013.

Stila make up

If I'm completely honest I hate paying trillions of pounds/dollars/euros (or any other currency) for products that I'm haven't tried before as I'm worried I may not like/get on with them which would be an awful waste of money.

From poundland! Yup you read it right, poundland! I (Lul) First saw/heard of this via Louise from "Sprinkle of glitter" either from a blog post or/and instagram post, can't honestly remember. The first item I (Lul) brought was the Stila tinted moisturiser in dark 01 which I then recommended and brought for Meg. Originally this would cost around about £25/$39/€31 but of course I only paid £1/$1.50/€1.20 which is amazing! I (Lul) love the feel of the moisturiser and the coverage although at first the consistency is a little thick and heavy which I got used to quite quickly. I often just wear the moisturiser on its own and feel that any blemishes I may have are covered and have a flawless, natural finish.

Then I (Lul) brought Stila whitening powder refill which I apply after applying my foundation, sort of to set my foundation. This allows me to create an extremely natural and flawless finish to my skin with little effort, handy when in a rush!

Finally I brought the jade blossom hair refresher, this smells beautiful in and out of my hair. This is a dry shampoo that isn't in an aerosol leaves my hair feeling freshly washed even after missing a wash (sounds kinda awful). All in all I really like the Stila products which i have tried from poundland.

Chanel Make-up

So we took a trip to Selfridges in London, could of spent hours and hours in there! I (Lul) brought a quite a light coverage foundation; Vitalumiere aqua in 20 beige. I knew that there was quite a lot of hype over this product, however I think it has a nice coverage light enough to achieve a natural look but also high enough to cover any small blemishes that I may have. Also the smell is to die for Meg and I sat there just smelling it before we applied it for the first time. However before I apply this foundation I occationally apply my Stila tinted moisturiser if I feel that the Chanel foundation will not cover the blemishes that I have, I also always apply it with my hands/fingers as this is what the little book recommends (that comes with The foundation) The vitalumiere foundation cost £32/$51/€40.

Also when browsing through my local lovely charity shop I discovered a Chanel ombre unique shadowlights eye shadow in 21 vega, this cost only a £1/$1.50/€1.20. Quite like the colour and stays on throughout the day and doesn't smudge across your face, also it is very pigmented.

The foundation I (Meg) brought was one with a greater coverage than Lul's as I have a few more blemishes than her, its called Perfection Lumiere in 30 Beige Rose costing around £36/$57/€45. We both had the sales assistant colour match the foundation to our skin tone, I recommend doing this, as it's better than turning orange or something awful! The foundation left my skin feeling so soft, however, before applying it I usually put on Benefit's Porefessional which costs around £23/$36/€29, this just reduces the appearance of the pores around your nose, t-line and chin. As Lul said, the smell of the foundations were gorgeous!

I loved using Chanel make up so much I popped into Fenwicks one sunny afternoon with Lul to purchase their Sublime de Chanel mascara in 10 Black; costing around £23/$36/€29. It leaves you with long and voluminous lashes and doesn't make them clumpy, which I hate! Clumpy lashes are not attractive, it looks like you haven't been bothered to take your make up off for days! Sorry, rant over.

Will add photo's of Meg's purchases as soon as I can, as I'm no able to do so at the moment.

Lul got it wrong

I've had a change of heart!

A few weeks ago I did a post on the Nivea Young Skin Care range and was really too kind about the be beautiful! tinted moisturiser, how rude of me! Any who, recently I rediscovered it and honestly hand on heart I can say I really do like it. before i wasn't to keen on the coverage as it went patchy after a few hours but i have come up with a genius way to combat this.

As the cold days are drawing in and that lusted after summer tan has long gone, I swing towards a foundation or tinted moisturiser with a little more coverage. Rather than going out and spending money on a few new foundations, I prefer to use the be beautiful tinted moisturiser as base and then apply a higher end foundation over the top to get the desired coverage.

Sooo I was wrong but I'm making it right, I've recently brought another be beautiful! tinted moisturiser so will be using it for a while. Should be another post soon on BeneFit make-up

Daily Skin Care Routine.

Currently use and adore the nivea young skin care collection

Step 1: wash off! Effective Cleansing Gel,

What is says; Enriched with Ocean Minerals, the oil free formula:
  • Mildly cleanses and refreshes without drying out skin.
  • Effectively removes dirt, grease and eye-makeup.
  • helps to prevent impurities
What I think; I like how it is gentle enough not to irratate my skin which is extreamly senstive but powerful enough to allow your skin to feel refreshed and amazingly clean. Great for people with normal or combination skin and for those who want a daily mild cleanser.
Step 2: smooth it! Mild Exfoliating Scrub,

What it says;
  • Extra fine exfoliators effectively remove dead skin cells to smooth the complexion
  • Gently cleanses with out drying out skin.
  • Enriched with peach extracts, the mild formula softens the skin.
The supposed result; Your complexion looks beautifully radiant and feels smooth and peachy-soft.

What I think; I like the little orange and yellow beads (exfoliators) which remove any dead/dry skin to leave skin feeling renewed and brilliantly soft. Although I was a little anxious to use this because of the peach extracts which i though would irritate my skin, I was pleasantly surprised when i left my skin feeling better than ever. Again good for people with normal or combination skin and if you are wanting a gentle scrub for peachy soft skin.

Step 3: be beautiful! tinted moisturiser,

What it says;
  • The oil-free formula provides your skin with instant moisture and is quickly absorbed
  • Skin refining tinted pigments adapt to your natural skin and visible beautifies your complexion without clogging pores.
  • The special texture leaves your skin feeling noticeably softer and smoother.
  • An UVA/UVB filter system helps protect from the sun's radiation.
The supposed result; Your complexion looks naturally radiant and even. Your skin feels fresh and soft.

What I think; Really nice consistancy however seems to wear off and go patchy very quickly so you need to re-apply after a few hours which isnt convient if you have long days. This product would be for those with normal or combination skin and for people to want to achieve beautiful natural looking skin with out using make up.

Overall i love the first two steps as they leave my skin feeling fantastic, I use these every day to remove make up and wash away the day so to speak. When I first started using the young skin collection I did break out slightly but after a few days my skin felt and looked alot better. I'm really impressed with the products and have been using them for the past year and a half.

NIVEA soft face, hands and body cream,

What it says; A moisture sensation! enjoy the revitalising feel of long-lasting moisturisation on your face, body and hands everyday. Skin compatibility dermatologically approved.

What I think; I use this product religiously and apply morning and night without fail, I have also recommended it to friends are they are just as happy with it. All in all a great all over body cream that works with any skin type.

And finally.... I contacted NIVEA to see if I was able to mention their products and they where amazingly greatful and they sent me 3x£1 vouchers that I could spend on NIVEA products which I used to buy the NIEVA soft face, hand and body cream which i use every day and night and after I have washed my face with the young skin products

Body Shop Haul!

Recently Body Shop have had a massive sale on and I have been hooked! I must have just spend under £50 but got so many bargains.

Bag 1- Body Shop Party

Lip/Concealer  Brush

Eyeshadow Brush

Face and Body Brush

Big and Curvy Mascara
-Normally worth around £40.00 its a massive saving and a bunch of amazing brushes and I've purchased another Big and Curvy Mascara because I am amazed at how it elongates my lashes without using much product.

Brushes and Lashes Collection £7.00 (when you spend over £30)

Vitamin C Skin Rejuvenator-  I'm head over heels in love with this product, it gives my skin such a dewy glow and i have no desire to wear foundation when I've used this product. However during the evening i use it as a primer as my foundation sits extreamly nicely on top of the Vitamin C Skin Rejuvenator.
£13.00

Bag 2- Body Shop Sale (in-store)

Delipscious Sheer Lip Colour in 03

Gives a nice colour to the lip but wears of quicker than other lippys. I'm not 100% keen on the colour as it shows up imperfections which you may have on your lips. I would buy this product again but maybe try a different colour and see if its any better. Can't really complain as it was only £2.00 in The Body Shop Sale.

£2.00

Nail File

I've been needing to purchase a new nail file for weeks as my Sister had asked me to do UV nails on her for her prom. I didn't particularly want to spent too much on a nail file as they always seem to fall apart after a few uses. Anyway i saw this one in The Body Shop and fell in love with the funky striped pattern it was only 50p so it was too good to miss and i snapped it up. However a got it home and found that the size was a bit of an inconvenience as it was difficult to hold it comfortably and hard to postition properly because of it size.

£0.50

Matte and Shimmer Cheek Colour in 02

I'm not normally a massive fan of glitter as I find it transfers and smothers my face but i was impressed by how the product stayed on my cheek and didn't wear off and become patchy throughout the day. Like everything else this was in the sale on was only £2.00, the only problem with the Matt and Sheer Cheek Colour is it made me break out which was a bummer as I genuinely liked this product.

£2.00

And last but no means least....

Bag 3- Body Shop Sale (in-store)

Nature's Mineral Foundation in 04
I must admit I'm not normally a fan of powder foundations but decided to give this one a try as a friends of mine swears by it. I think it has a nice light coverage and produces a natural look, although it's bit of a pain to get an even coverage. I feel it sits very nicely on my skin but wore off after a few hours because of the rather light coverage.

£4.00

01 Eye Definer Shade: Black

I will never buy another brand of eyeliner again I am in love, head over heals for this product! Gives such a nice, clean and dramatic line without much effort, I highly recommend this if you don't like fussing about with eyeliner and like a clean and defined line either on the water-line or on your eye-lid.

£3.00

Delipscious Sheer Lip Colour in 01

I decided to try another colour of the Delipscious Sheer Lip Colour, I'm still on the fence but do prefer this colour to the other.

£2.00

Matte and Shimmer Cheek Colour in 01

Again i love how the glitter/shimmer does transfer to other parts of my face. Unfortunately I dropped this product which cause it t look like this. However I still try to use it as i gives a nice subtle colour to my cheeks without looking too rosey.

£2.00

Big and Curvy Mascara in Black

Like I mentioned earlier I'm amazed at how long this mascara makes my little eyelashes, this is the second time I have brought this mascara and it wont be the last.

£10.00

Total £45.50

I will definitely be buying many of this products again and will let you know if i buy any new products,
